Act 1 — The Assignment
Students! Your mission: a writing assignment worth 35% of your grade. Start early, don't fall behind. Don't cheat, and above all, be yourself.
Pfft. I'll just wait until the last minute.
Or let AI do it for me. Easy win.
I can't, I already feel behind!
Trust! Don't leave everything till the last minute. It's natural to feel stressed, but if you start early, it will be okay. I learned this from the Writing and ESL specialists.
Act 2 — The Struggle
Help! I'm being sucked into this vortex of procrastination!
The professor said to stay away from AI... never! It's too powerful!
I want to study longer, lock in... but I can't stop panicking!
I have it figured out! I have my tips from my visit to Student Learning Support earlier this week. Take regular breaks. Don't study more than 2 hours at once. Also, go see the Writing and ESL Specialists to learn how to start your essay.
Following the Writing and ESL Specialists' plan is working. No stress.
Hey, don't panic. I think I can help! Visit the Writing and ESL Specialists at Student Learning Support. Remember to study in intervals: 30 minutes on, 5 minutes off.
Act 3 — The Writing and ESL Specialists' Arrival
I need some help with my writing assignment.
Breathe. Focus. Read the instructions and articulate it to life. Don't just be a parrot.
But... I don't know where to even begin. My notes are a mess, and nothing makes sense anymore.
That's what the Writing and ESL Specialists are here for!
With their help and expertise, step by step, the page will take shape.
This is pointless. Why struggle when AI can just write it for me? Faster, easier, done.
Don't use AI! You are better than that. Write with confidence. You've got this!
But AI knows more than me. How can I compete?
Be yourself. Write drafts. You will learn how to write one page at a time. Your voice, your truth, is the real strength.
Check out our resources at https://nool.ontariotechu.ca/ Always proofread your papers before submitting. Writing is not about perfection in one shot. It's about growth in every draft.
Act 4 — The Training Montage
As the professor mentioned, start writing early. Don't procrastinate. I will do exactly that. I want good grades!
Don't let a bad mark bring you down. As long as you know you're doing your best and considering feedback, that's what matters.
Take breaks. Read a book. Go outside for a walk.
Use NOOL! Start early, write drafts, ask your friends for critical feedback, and revise your work.
Act 5 — The Breakthrough & Growth
Starting early really works! Writing multiple drafts works. No stress this time!
I stayed away from AI and found my own voice. AI didn't write this. I did!
Breaks and walks helped. I'm calm, and my essay actually makes sense!
We all did it! We were successful when we used Student Learning Support resources, Writing and ESL specialists, and each other.
Well done, students! You didn't just write an assignment... You wrote your growth story.
